I love travelling, visiting places of historic, architectural, natural, cultural importance and ofcourse adventurous place i.e., just about anywhere – anyplace. Prefer calm and not so crowded places. This helps explore and understand more of the place.

I love riding my motorcycle, I have ridden to/through most of the states in india. People ask why a motorcycle??? I tell them.....You feel the wind, you hear the sound of your environment (birds, animals, vehicles, people...), you smell the land around you (for better or worse) and feel the texture of the road beneath you. It's something which cannot be explained, and cannot be understood no matter how I explain. It has to be experienced to understand!!!!
It's about discovering yourself, making new friends, learning new things. The

The friendship you made while traveling, will often last forever. You generally trend to miss your new friends ‘cause they made you feel home in their city, and you will look forward to meet them again, may be at your place or somewhere else.

Why did I start my travel blog? To share my riding, traveling experience with my friends, fellow travellers from far and near. Inspire people who yearn to travel and see places but are caught up in thoughts about the million things they need to do, to leave their comfort zone and get inquisitive about palces.

In this travelouge, an effort has been made here to aquaint the intending traveller with the location, route and details of the place I visited. Sufficient care has been taken to give practicable, correct and current information.

Punnathur Kota (Anakotta)

Punnathur Kotta AKA Anakotta It is a fantastic place of visit. Every visitor especially the children would be thrilled to see so many elephants in one place. Well, this is not a zoo. Unlike the zoo, where a variety of wild animals are housed, here the only animal we get to see are the majestic elephants. Most of these elephants are trained or being trained. These elephants are all of the elephant are shackled, however they are not in separate enclosures. Yes, it’s a heart-rending scene for any animal lover who would love to see them roam around freely.  You will get to see the caretaker/mahout feeding the elephants, giving them bath, elephants playing in water, mud. When moving around take care not to get too close to the elephants and not be too noisy near them. Elephants in musth are however kept in a separate enclosure.  Entry and still photography charges are nominal. Note, there are separate charges for still photography and videography. The sanct

DARASURAM

DARASURAM is located about 3 - 4 KM from Kumbakonam. The Airavateswara temple was constructed by Rajaraja Chola II in the 12th century. His grandsons had a short period of life. Rajaraja II was was his(Raja Raja I), grand-daughters son. Darasuram visit was a part of my Kumbakonam visit. I must have spent about one and half hour at Darasuram. I was not was not able to take more pictures here as someone yelled ‘photo edukadhengo’ (do not take pictures). I am sure I missed taking many more interesting pictures. I was also sweating profusely as it was a humid day and I had to be more cautious with the camera, this was also a reason for fewer pictures and picture clarity.  After the chola period, the islamic invaders(Nizams and Bahmani Sultans), destroyed many statues. In the 15th century the Rulers from Madurai region, The Nayakers did some work like paintings(vegetable paintings), extension on these temples. The vegetable paintings can still be seen on the walls and on the ceiling.
